Meg Ruby received her Bachelors of Music Degree in Piano Performance from the University of Michigan, her Masters of Music from Arizona State University with full scholarship and Doctoral studies continued at the Eastman School of Music. Meg also received an Artists’ Diploma while performing and studying throughout Italy.

For the past five years, Meg has been Professor of Music and staff accompanist at Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York, and has also maintained a private teaching studio.

Ms. Ruby’s musical interests are diverse and far-reaching, performing as a soloist, a chamber musician in contemporary ensembles (with which she has recorded on Centaur), and with orchestra. She has worked as accompanist for the Boys Choir of Harlem and for members of the Count Basie Orchestra. She tours with “Via Soul”, a duo-piano team, and is the founding member of the group “Vajra”, a world music trio.

Meg frequently collaborates with multi-media artists, and has inspired audiences as a soloist, chamber musician, and accompanist throughout the United States, Europe and South America. She has performed on Detroit Public Radio and Phoenix Classical Radio. Recently, Meg received a grant from the New York Foundation of the Arts for travel to Cuenca, Ecuador, where she gave performances and master classes.

Meg is a certified yoga instructor, and has used this knowledge of the body/mind connection to help musicians overcome performance anxiety and stress issues in clinics and workshops.

She has given master classes at universities and conservatories such as the Eastman School of Music, University of Hawaii, University of Cuenca, and at various music camps.

Through Meg’s own experiences with performance anxiety and practice related challenges, she began a journey of self-discovery through yoga, meditation, and movement. After years of working on the body/mind/spirit connection and noticing its’ positive effects on her relationship with music and her over all health,

Meg is now inspired and excited to share her insights with other musicians and artists.
